Shake Roof

Shake roofs are composed of rectangular pieces of light-weight wood, typically cedar. Because shakes are light-weight, a shake roof is suitable for steeply-sloped roofs that may not have the proper structure to bear the weight of tile or slate. Shake roofs have an aesthetically pleasing pattern created by the variations in color and grain of the wood. They are moderately impact resistant and can last up to 30 years or more if installed correctly and properly maintained.
